The Windmillhopper is a family business that was founded in 2012. We were born and grew up in the Zaanstreek.

With passion we offer cruises in an open boat. Our boat can accommodate up to 12 people and meets all safety requirements.
We have been a partner of the Zaanse Schans for several years. With the Zaansche Schans as starting point, we offer beautiful and informative boat tours along the acient mills of the Zaanse Schans.

Our family of 5 visited Zaanse Schans while staying in Amsterdam. The boat trip with Captain Raymond was definitely the highlight of the day :). Captain Raymond is super nice and gave us some background on the different windmills. Very interesting and informative! We all got to visit a 17th century windmill if I remember correctly and witnessed how linseed oil is made. My kids really had a blast! Definitely worth it and highly recommended! ! ! !

Captain Raymond did a great job explaining the history and use of the windmills. He was very enthusiastic about his presentation, answering all our questions and stopping when we wanted to take pictures. We took his tour before walking to one of the windmills. What we learned on his tour greatly increased our understanding of what we saw at each windmill. We recommend Captain Raymon's open boat tour!
